Description
Some brands make cigars. Apostate, however, makes a pilgrimage.
Founded in 2020, Apostate Cigars draws its name, its cigar names, and its entire identity from Mormon scripture, ceremony, and tradition. Specifically, the word apostate comes from the Greek apostasia. It means defection, departure, revolt, or rebellion. That tension — reverence and irreverence at the same time — runs through every cigar in the lineup. In other words, every name is a chapter. This sampler is the whole book.
Jochy Blanco blends every Apostate cigar with intention using aged tobaccos from around the world. Furthermore, his team crafts each one by hand at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic — the same factory behind La Galera and La Instructora. As a result, the construction is impeccable. The concepts, meanwhile, are genuinely unlike anything else in the humidor.
Here’s what’s inside.
Sword of Laban Churchill Apostate named this one after the weapon that both belonged to and executed its namesake. In terms of flavor, this is the softer side of Corojo — an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper over Mexican San Andrés binder and Dominican filler. Rich and subtle, it rewards the smoker who likes to sip slowly and tease out every layer.
Moroni’s Trumpet Petite Corona This is the darkest expression in the Apostate lineup. A Mexican San Andrés Oscuro wrapper over Dominican Olor binder and a Dominican and USA filler blend delivers rich cocoa, spice, and cream. Additionally, it burns slowly and rewards patience.
The Endowment Petite Corona Arguably the most complex cigar in the portfolio. A Connecticut Desflorado wrapper from Ecuador pairs with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder from the USA and a three-country filler blend. As a result, you can expect multiple flavor transitions, a rich body, and a long satisfying finish.
The Initiatory Petite Corona Apostate named this one after the first Mormon temple ceremony, making it the perfect introduction to the lineup. An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Mexican San Andrés binder and Dominican filler delivers classic notes of wood, spice, and caramel-like undertones. In short, this is where the journey begins.
The Deseret Petite Corona Apostate named this one after a scriptural term meaning honeybee, and it delivers on every bit of that sweetness. A Mexican San Andrés wrapper leads the profile, while the retrohale brings cocoa, fruit, and toasted marshmallow. It therefore draws on tobaccos renowned for their natural sweetness.
Secret Combination The most mysterious expression in the lineup. The name, after all, tells you everything and nothing at once.
The sampler also includes an Apostate lighter and an Apostate sticker — in other words, everything you need to start the journey right.
