Honduras Cigar Sampler | One Country, Three Very Different Stories

The Honduras cigar sampler is built around an argument. Honduras deserves more credit than it gets. Furthermore, the three brands in this box — Cavalier Genève, Oscar Valladares, and Aladino — are three of the strongest reasons to make that case.

The story starts in the soil. The Jamastran Valley and Copán sit on clay-heavy ground that produces thicker, oilier, mostly sun-grown leaves. As a result, Honduran tobacco delivers a slow, savory, earthy build that sits in a completely different register from Nicaraguan boldness or Dominican creaminess. Additionally, when you layer that terroir with the kind of human stories behind these three brands, the cigars start to mean something beyond the blend.

JRE Aladino Camp Aladino 1962 Toro
The Eiroa family has been growing tobacco in the Jamastran Valley since Julio landed in Danlí in 1963. Furthermore, Camp Aladino is where they invite retailers out to walk the fields and the factory before flying home with a cigar made just for that trip. The 1962 Toro is this year’s exclusive. The blend is undisclosed. You can only get it here.

Aladino Vintage Selection Elegante
The other side of the Aladino story. A lancero built from Habano wrapper over Corojo binder and filler grown at the family’s Finca Corojo. Furthermore, this is the more classical expression of everything the Eiroa family has been building since Julio first planted seed in Jamastran soil.

Cavalier Genève Tres Delincuentes
Sébastien Decoppet landed in Danlí in his early twenties and never left. Additionally, the Tres Delincuentes has one of the most relaxed origin stories in the lineup — named after a song that came on the radio during a drive back from the fields one morning. The blend, however, is anything but casual.

Cavalier Genève Domaine Rouge
A personal cigar. The Domaine Rouge is built around a Habano wrapper grown right in the Jamastran Valley, and furthermore it was created as a tribute to Decoppet’s father Pascal, who passed away in 2021. The name also nods to the red-painted factory where it’s rolled. In short, every element of this cigar means something.

Oscar Valladares Raw Dog
No wrapper. The binder, grown in Copán, does the job on its own, wrapped around Jamastran and Copán filler with a brushed foot that lets the filler show past the binder’s edge. Furthermore, this is as close to a pure, unfiltered look at Honduran tobacco as a cigar gets. Oscar Valladares built his brand on instincts like this one.

Oscar Valladares The Oscar Maduro Robusto
A San Andrés wrapper over Honduran binder and Honduran and Nicaraguan filler. Additionally, the Maduro expression shows what happens when Oscar Valladares layers a dark, rich outer leaf over the Honduran core that defines the brand. In other words, this is the bolder side of the Oscar Valladares story.

Oscar Valladares Leaf By Oscar Sumatra
An all-Honduran interior wrapped in an oily Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf, with a foot left uncapped so the filler shows. Furthermore, Leaf By Oscar started as a house cigar for a shop in Pittsburgh and grew into one of the most distinctive presentations in the Oscar Valladares portfolio. In short, it closes the sampler exactly the way it should — memorably.
